Tube at Twelve Birthday Concert - Saturday 22 October

After 12 years of Tube, it's time to celebrate with a very Unusual concert!

Saturday 22 October, 7:30 pm
Samuel Ward Academy, Chalkstone Way, Haverhill CB9 0LD

The Tube at Twelve concert features a line-up of Tube Stars past and present as well as several friendly Tube Guest Stars.
There will be 12 Brass Stars in all, with former Tube Star Richard Hull waving a stick to keep everything together, and Guest Star Billie Farr hitting things with sticks.
It's not every day that you get to see or hear a Brass Dodectet, or even to use the word Dodectet!
On the music front, the concert will include some Tube Favourites, as well as all new Brass Dodectet arrangements and a fanfare written especially for the occasion by Local Composer Star David Minchin.
We have said this before, but truer than ever, this will be Tube as you've never seen us before!
Interval refreshments will be served.
Please email or telephone to reserve your tickets.

Trumpet - Tim Pannell

Tim began playing the cornet at the age of 4 under the guidance of his parents initially, and later Paul Mayes. He was accepted into the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain at 12, attending 11 courses in total, 5 of which on principal flugelhorn. After a spell at the Royal Academy of Music, studying trumpet with James Watson, Tim studied Popular Music and Music Technology at Anglia Ruskin University.

Now teaching Brass, Guitar, Drums, Piano and Music Theory locally, Tim is the principal cornet of Haverhill Silver Band (2015 London & Southern Counties 1st section champions), plays trumpet for mod revivalists Secret Affair, and is the vocalist/guitarist for 3 Screaming Popes. He has produced many local bands, and his production work has featured on Radio 1 and Channel 4. He has also guested with some of the country's top brass bands including Fairey, Grimethorpe and Brighouse & Rastrick. He is currently working hard on trying to convince Gavin that Tube would be much better playing cornets instead of trumpets!

Horn - Paul Ryder

Paul started playing the horn at the age of 8, whilst living in Hampshire, and went on to become principal horn of the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra some years later. He studied Physics at Oxford from 1995 to 1999 and during this time gave numerous solo, chamber and orchestral performances. He also organised large-scale modern horn recitals and historical chamber music concerts on natural horns at the Bate Collection.

Since moving to East Anglia in 1999 (for a day job playing with lasers!), Paul has performed with many orchestras throughout the region and given a number of concerto performances. He has also worked with chamber ensembles and orchestras in Belgium, the Channel Islands, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.

Now based in Cambridgeshire, he continues to perform with a wide variety of local orchestras and musical groups. He is currently principal horn of the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra, the Sampson Orchestra of Cambridge and the Sinfonia of Cambridge, and also plays with Cambridge Winds, Cambridge Wind Players, the Lavenham Sinfonia and of course Tube. Paul avidly explores all aspects of horn playing and, as well as having a small collection of natural and early valve horns, experiments with the use of the horn in as many musical genres as possible!
